Cognition-Targeted Exercise Benefits MS Fatigue

Published on Tue, 8 Nov 1921

The added value of cognition-targeted exercise versus symptom-targeted exercise for multiple sclerosis fatigue: A randomized controlled pilot trial

A randomized controlled pilot trial explored the effectiveness of cognition-targeted exercise (CTE) versus symptom-targeted exercise (STE) in managing fatigue among people with multiple sclerosis (MS). Sixty participants received either CTE or STE, both combined with weekly cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) sessions. Results revealed that CTE significantly improved fatigue outcomes, with effects lasting longer than STE. High retention rates and adherence confirmed feasibility, suggesting CTE as a promising addition to MS fatigue management strategies. Further large-scale studies are encouraged.
