Predicting MS Progression with Multimodal Diagnostics

Published on Sat, 14 Jan 2023

Multimodal diagnostics in multiple sclerosis: predicting disability and conversion from relapsing-remitting to secondary progressive disease course - protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis

This systematic review protocol investigates the benefits of a multimodal approach—combining radiologic, neurophysiological, cognitive, and molecular diagnostics—to predict disability and transition from relapsing-remitting to secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS). It will analyze predictive accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of diagnostic models, focusing on clinical disability and cognitive impairment. Data from in vivo studies will be extracted, ranked, and compared to assess predictive power. Results aim to enhance diagnostics and prognostication of disease progression in MS care.
