On 19 May 2025, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) announced the winners of its second research grant cycle, awarding AED 4 million to six UAE-based projects aimed at improving the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of MS. The selected projects span genetics, artificial intelligence, electric field stimulation, and socioeconomic studies, and were chosen in partnership with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi. This year’s cycle saw nearly four times more applications than the first, reflecting the UAE’s growing research ecosystem. Among the awardees are Khalifa University, University of Sharjah, Mohamed Bin Zayed University of AI, and Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government. The announcement coincides with the release of the NMSS 2023–2024 Research Impact Report and reinforces NMSS’s ongoing efforts to drive transformative, locally anchored, and globally relevant MS research.
