Changing MS Prevalence in Abu Dhabi

نُشرت في الخميس، 7 يوليو 2016

How global MS prevalence is changing: A retrospective chart review in the United Arab Emirates

This retrospective chart review of Abu Dhabi hospitals (2010-2014) examined the prevalence and characteristics of multiple sclerosis (MS). The study identified 510 patients, with Emiratis representing 62.2%. The age-standardized MS prevalence rate in Emiratis was 64.44 per 100,000, one of the highest on the Arab peninsula, with an incidence rate of 6.0 cases per 100,000 person-years. The findings emphasize the importance of age- and sex-standardized prevalence reporting for reliable epidemiological data in the Middle East.
